You, dear one, have worked so hard. You’ve fought and struggled, but most importantly you’ve survived. You’ve made it another day. I hope you realize how incredible that is. That really is a very hard thing, and you’ve done it. You have every right to be proud of yourself. You are so worthy of the fight it took to get here. Now, deep breath. Let’s do it again.
Here’s what I know, friend. Those emotions you’re feeling? They’re valid. They may not feel rational. That’s okay. They may not seem logical. That’s okay too. It’s okay to be angry. It’s okay to be hurt. It’s okay to be sad. Friend, this is important. It’s also okay to be happy. It is okay to be happy. You are allowed to be happy. People may begrudge that happiness, but you’ve worked hard for it. Enjoy it while it’s here.
Dear one, some days are hard. They are, and it’s terrible. Some days are mean and feel like the constant. Those are not your only days. There are beautiful days. There are life-giving, empowering, fulfilling days. You’ve had hard ones before. You can get through this one, and soon there will be another beautiful one.
You are awake. You are alive. You are here in a new day. That’s already incredible. You’ve already accomplished some pretty hard things just to get here. I promise, the next breath will take care of itself. Let your body deal with breath, while you enjoy each new moment.
Be bold, dear one. It’s hard. It takes so much strength. Know that being bold doesn’t always mean something big and public. Being bold can be stepping back. Being bold can be prioritizing yourself. Being bold doesn’t have to be a spectacle. It won’t be simple though. Still, I know you can do it.
Dear one, you are so strong. What’s hard about strength is we never feel strong when we need to use it, yet that’s so often when we show how strong we really are. I’m sorry you have to keep using your strength. I’m so glad you have it. You are so much stronger than you realize.
Warrior, you really have come so very far. You’ve conquered so much. You’ve accomplished a great deal. Sometimes that’s hard to see in the moment. Sometimes that’s hard to wrap your head around. That’s okay, I promise. Today, you don’t have to look at the whole picture, if you can’t handle it. So let’s just look at all of those tiny joys. That new podcast you love, the way flowers are starting to sprout from the ground, that new dish you tried to make, whatever tiny things are bringing you joy are just as valid as the amazing and huge accomplishments that you’ve made.
