Here’s what I know, friend. Those emotions you’re feeling? They’re valid. They may not feel rational. That’s okay. They may not seem logical. That’s okay too. It’s okay to be angry. It’s okay to be hurt. It’s okay to be sad. Friend, this is important. It’s also okay to be happy. It is okay to be happy. You are allowed to be happy. People may begrudge that happiness, but you’ve worked hard for it. Enjoy it while it’s here.

Dear one, some days are hard. They are, and it’s terrible. Some days are mean and feel like the constant. Those are not your only days. There are beautiful days. There are life-giving, empowering, fulfilling days. You’ve had hard ones before. You can get through this one, and soon there will be another beautiful one.

Dear one, you are so strong. What’s hard about strength is we never feel strong when we need to use it, yet that’s so often when we show how strong we really are. I’m sorry you have to keep using your strength. I’m so glad you have it. You are so much stronger than you realize.

You are strong. You are so much stronger than you realize. I only wish for your sake you did not have to keep proving this to yourself.
