You are awake. You are alive. You are here in a new day. That’s already incredible. You’ve already accomplished some pretty hard things just to get here. I promise, the next breath will take care of itself. Let your body deal with breath, while you enjoy each new moment.

Affirmation 4/23/18

Friend, you’re doing so well. Stop where you are. Breathe into this moment. Take a look at all that you’ve accomplished. You are doing so well. Do not believe anyone who has anything different to tell you. People are going to have a hard time with your wellness. They will resent how far you’ve come, and they will try to make you feel bad for it. You have worked hard. You have earned every ounce of what you’ve accomplished. Be so very proud of that.

Deep breath, friend. Strength is something beautiful. It’s already a part of you. If you don’t believe me, take a moment to observe how far you’ve come. It’s something that we never really fully grasp the magnitude of or appreciate until long after it’s carried us so far, long after the bad is behind us. Some days it doesn’t feel like we have any strength left in us. Friend, I’m so sorry for those days. I promise you though, you have it, and it is carrying you.

You are not your past. You are not things that have happened to and around you. You are right now. You are this moment. Those things have shaped you, but they do not define you. The past ends, but you’ve continued. You’ve continued long beyond where the past ended. You are right now, and right now is absolutely beautiful.

Warrior, you really have come so very far. You’ve conquered so much. You’ve accomplished a great deal. Sometimes that’s hard to see in the moment. Sometimes that’s hard to wrap your head around. That’s okay, I promise. Today, you don’t have to look at the whole picture, if you can’t handle it. So let’s just look at all of those tiny joys. That new podcast you love, the way flowers are starting to sprout from the ground, that new dish you tried to make, whatever tiny things are bringing you joy are just as valid as the amazing and huge accomplishments that you’ve made.

You are loved. Let’s allow that to wash over you for a moment. You are loved. You specifically are loved. Even when it feels like you are all alone, I assure you that you are loved. Even when it feels like you have to this all on your own, you are loved. When you feel like everyone else is distracted by their own seemingly minor problems, you are loved. You are loved. You are so loved.

Sometimes setbacks happen. Sometimes things don’t pan out like we want. Sometimes we fail. Those things are not the whole story. That is not where things end. Take what has happened, embrace it, learn from it, and move forward with your new knowledge in hand. Embrace your setbacks. Embrace your so-called failures. They still have value. They do not define you. They are not your definition. You are so much more than one moment.

Your best is enough. That’s true. Your okayest is also enough. Your best on your worst day is enough. Your best that you can muster when you feel like everything is closing in is enough. Your best doesn’t have to mean the best you’ve ever offered. It’s the best you can offer in this moment. You can only do what you can do. Be gracious with yourself.
