Warrior, you really have come so very far. You’ve conquered so much. You’ve accomplished a great deal. Sometimes that’s hard to see in the moment. Sometimes that’s hard to wrap your head around. That’s okay, I promise. Today, you don’t have to look at the whole picture, if you can’t handle it. So let’s just look at all of those tiny joys. That new podcast you love, the way flowers are starting to sprout from the ground, that new dish you tried to make, whatever tiny things are bringing you joy are just as valid as the amazing and huge accomplishments that you’ve made.
Is there bad in the world? Of course, there is. Is there good in the world? Absolutely. I believe there is more good than bad, but bad is louder. So many tiny good, seemingly mundane things are happening all of the time that they don’t stand out anymore. Tragedy strikes and gets a voice because it is uncommon. We don’t do news reports on average events. That doesn’t mean there is good. Stop right now. Take stock. Examine the good. Start by counting yourself.
Hi, life is hard, and I’m sorry. It can be so mean and confusing. Take a deep breath. Remind yourself of tiny things, good things, powerful things, loving things, kind things. With each new breath remember something good. Fill your body with all that is good. Let it move you. Let it motivate you.
Every day will not be flawless. Many will have struggles. Remarkably, you continue. Some days may feel impossible. There may be a storm outside or in your head or in your heart. It will calm. It always does. Breathe slowly. Focus on tiny victories. Don’t be overwhelmed by a heart storm. You will come out stronger. I’m sorry you have to go through it to get there. I believe in you.
Deep breath. Slow, even breaths. Things may feel out of your control. Remember those tiny movements inside your body that are constantly going. Things you’ve become so good at controlling you don’t even notice anymore. Your heart beats. Your lungs fill. Your blood pulses. Your eyes blink. You’re constantly hearing and seeing and smelling. You’ve decided to ignore your nose completely, even though you see it. You are in control of each tiny movement. Deep breath. Focus in.
